About me

I am a restorer, artist, painter. Through restoration I help monuments to stay alive which enables people to enjoy the beauty of the works of art by the masters from the past centuries. Sometimes I like to take the paintbrush and just go to plein air to record fleeting moments of the changes in nature. Or, in the studio, to create a copy of old masters pieces of art. I like taking photos.

Because since my childhood I like history and monuments and because I come from an artistic family (father – Jiří Kaloč, see: www.kalocjiri.cz; mother – Blanka Kaločová, see: Dictionary of the Czech and Slovak Visual Artists, Chagal 2000, Ka-Kom; younger brother – Robin, see: www.robinkaloc.com, it was clear that I am deeply influenced by this environment. Therefore, during my studies at the Grammar school, when I was thinking about my future, I decided to study the restoration which combines the education in art together with art history and technologies. Moreover I can apply my love for monuments and history in practice.

Nowadays, on daily basis, I can experience the beatiful feelings when I return the shine and glory to the buildings and pieces of art by famous artists from the past centuries. By that I help that the spirit of the old days is still alive in present days. Some disintegrated monuments are destroyed not only by time but also often by unprofessional intervation by a human being. After their restoration you can see a miracle which makes us happy to look at. And I really love that. I hope that the future generations will appreciate that.

In addition to the restoration I enjoy painting. My parents, my younger brother and many famous artists were fascinated by the beauty of their native region. So do I, my native region is the foothills of Orlické mountains. Sometimes you can see me on a forest clearing concentrating on the painting or just walking with my camera to immortalize the beauty of the local landscape.
